Hexagon Cloud Shelf

Fully 3d printed in PLA, this hexagon shelf system was made one segment at a time and slowly built over the course of about a year. All gaps between segments were filled, sanded, and painted smooth to hide all seams. Pocket holes with printed cover inserts hide the attachment points to make the shelf look like it floats. Small dioramas were made for some of the cubbies to make each cubby feel like it’s own mini world.

Skyline Diffuser

While typically a skyline diffuser is meant as an acoustic treatment, I decided to make this one do double duty and act as a light diffuser as well. A total of 144 blocks were 3d printed and hung on steel strings that run across to support them. Translucent PLA was combined with an infill that gives a crystalline look to support the theme in the kitchen.

Entryway Organizer

Inspired by a French cleat system, this organizer was built with walnut strips and attached to wall studs with a small spacer, allowing 3d printed hangers to fit over the wood. Off the shelf coat hooks were attached to printed hangers using threaded inserts for strength, shelves have printed hangers attached, and picture frames also have similar hangers on the back side.

Star Ceiling

Built with a false ceiling and fiber optics, this ceiling was modeled after the real night sky. A projector was used to mark the positions of the stars using a star map, then fiber optics were fed through small holes in drywall to bring light from the light source. Additional framing was added to transform the flat ceiling into a tray ceiling with LED strips providing an indirect and diffuse light source for the room.

Dungeons and Dragons

Designed a more kid friendly experience for DnD. Paper cards for items and spells help keep track of all the items and abilities the player can use, while 3d printed dungeon tiles can be used to quickly snap together levels. Magnets are embedded in the 3d prints to keep everything in place.

Backyard Garden

Taking inspiration from Japanese gardens, my backyard has slowly evolved over the years. Pathways are built with stepping stones to force visitors to make slow deliberate steps through the garden. Playground, firepit, and pond with fountain were all added over time in addition to cherry blossom and Japanese maple trees.

Home Office

Since I work from home, designing a comfortable and professional space to work was important. Acoustic panels surround the space to give a cozy feel, each mounted spaced away from the wall to give a floating feeling. Indirect light sources help avoid eye strain, and all cables (except mouse and keyboard) are hidden away.
